Hi Michael, you should give that creek a try next fall when the rounds will be spawning, late October or early November. They probably hang out there in the spring too. You should at least be able to see them then if the water is clear enough. Cool you’re trying in winter. It would be amazing if you can succeed then.
Hi Mike, thanks for help! That creek unfortunately doesn’t connect to the target lake. There is a trickle of an outflow from the lake to an adjacent one, and it might be more of a creek in the spring with higher water levels, but I’m not sure about fall time. It seems like the whities are locked in and a complete mystery haha.
I’ve been coast to coast to coast in Canada and my absolute favorite place is the Moon River Basin area of Georgian Bay. Thanks for the trip on a snowy afternoon.
First of all GREAT site. A few quick questions. What size hook and bait did you use for the butterfly fish as well as the surgeonfish? What technique on both?
Also when using bread in saltwater, what do you typically catch with this bait?
Hey, I was introduced to a happy guy at MTA NYCT the other day who’s last name is Fernandes! Well apparently you might know his son somehow? So we got into some talking and I mentioned that I’d be leaving on vacation to the Philippines to do some fishing. Well according to him I’m not the only lunatic fisherman out on the water.
I’ve been to Belize Alaska all over the East Coast Florida of course Cabo San Lucas Ontario Canada for the Great Lakes and thousands of streams and ponds all across New York. Anyways it would be awesome to maybe chat sometime on the phone and talk with a like-minded fisherman. Let me know if you’re interested sometime. I just bought a single person canoe in place of a kayak and I’m in the process of hooking that bad boy up with some gear.
Let me know,

Aloha from oahu! Ive been on the islands all my life and have been spoiled with ocean fishing. Even though ive been here all my life, I only just found out about all the freshwater fishing on oahu! Everything from small mouth bass to the cichlids you caught. Amazing! I understand some how people are about their spots somtimes, but I was wondering if you could tell me where that pond in honolulu was? I only know of a couple spots to possibly catch fish, and want to know explore more. I understand if you cant though! HAppy fishing! and aloha nui!

Thanks for the read John! It is a truly magical little corner of the globe isn’t it? It just seems so limitless.
An amazing catch of “exotics” Michael. I particularly like the snakehead.
Thanks for the comment John! I would love to go back just for those snakehead, they are stunning fish… and I want a bigger one! =)

Looked like a great time!

Great info. Lucky me I found your blog by chance (stumbleupon).
I’ve saved it for later!

Lake Ontario is a great place for kayak fishing. I had the privilege of doing so once in my life. It is by far the best memory of my life.
